Clean up your act!
Sticky silicones, thick waxes, conditioner buildup, hard water mineral deposits and damaging chlorine- the list of elements sticking to your hair is endless. And without properly removing these coatings, the results of hours in the hair salon can be negatively affected. Here’s some tips to keep in clean!
a. When using a clarifying shampoo, apply it from the scalp to mid shaft, avoiding the ends. This allows the shampoo to focus where the buildup lives.
b. In the summer when you are swimming and perspiring more, your hair color and texture can shift. A clarifying shampoo can restore the hair’s balance, and save it from discoloration.
c. Clarifying shampoos are especially important for curly haired clients who use a lot of products to keep their curls under control.

From glossed over lids to color swept cheeks and eyes, this season is all about color, both soft and vibrant. Soft pastel shades to bright colored blocked 80’s inspired eyes and lips were seen on runways from NY to Milan. Just when we thought that glitter was so last holiday, it has reinstated itself in the form of the dramatic glitter pout. The classic French manicure reinvented itself with a creative glitter flair of lining the cuticles. The dark, vampy, red lip of last season has updated itself in bright shades of raspberry, orange and cherry red. Dreamy watercolor eyes sparkled with pastel shades brushed artfully across the lid present a fresh, fun approach to the season.

Contouring has met its match! The latest type of chiseling is created with large brush strokes of blush and more blush. Blush draping replaces the traditional contouring and highlighting trend of the 80’s. It is now making a comeback, this spring, in the form of blush to enhance cheekbones, brow bones, and eyes.
Not much is needed to recreate this look. one shade of blush or eyeshadow in hues of pink or coral will do. Keep in mind that the cheek is overly exaggerated and is the center of attention with a bit of the same shade swept across the eyelid and over the temples. This trend will give you a reason to blush!
This technique and many more will be demonstrated at our makeup party next week!

Bright, bold, vibrant shades of blue, purple, pink, and green are more popular than ever, and the trend seems to be going mainstream, who knew?
In the 1960’s, when little old ladies sported blue hair courtesy of a rinse no one would have described them as fashion-forward. What it took to make primary colors cool was celebrities like Kelly Osbourne and Katy Perry, who thumbed their noses at convention by dying their hair the most outrageous shades of blue and green. now what began as a rebel yell has become a full-blown trend, and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Brand new from Aloxxi, Ultra Hot Intense Semi-Permanent Fashion Colour offers endless color possibilities. Positively charged cationic dyes create a magnetic attraction to negatively charged hair, resulting in color that fades on tone, while the light, creamy consistency ensures even color distribution. Choose from six intermixable shades, including Blue (Midnight in Milan), Red (Rossini Red) and Green (Verde Paradiso).
The buzzwords when it comes to hair color this season are as warm as a cup of hot cocoa: bronzed copper, buttery blonde, rich chocolate, creamy orange, hazelnut, toffee, and penny. Tiawna Capri, owner of Nine Zero One in West Hollywood, is already seeing red, while at Meche Salon in Beverly Hills, colorist Chris Greene has created a new shade between auburn and brown- dark and inky with a touch of bronze. meanwhile, Redken Celebrity Colorist Tracey Cunningham is preaching the gospel of buttery blondes for spring, a trend we should start seeing on her stable of celebrity clients sometime soon. We asked the team at Harper Salon in Los Angeles to create a look for our cover that’s right on trend this spring. Colorist Nicole Hartmann took balayage and ombre to the next level by allowing colors- which are much warmer than they have been- to melt together. Rich chocolate and hazelnut tones combined with copper and penny shades give the hair a very rich, full look with a lot of dimension.
